2022 HOF Inductees

Shelley McCabe - Bowling Ability - Camp Hill, PA

Shelley McCabe enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements in bowling.

Shelley has 4 certified 300 games, 3 certified 800 series, and over 150 certified 700 series.  Her highest league average is 215 and has a high series of 812.  Shelley has been active in organized bowling for 50 years. 

Shelley was the 2012 & 2015 PA State USBC Senior Women’s Singles and All-Events Champion. She represented the state in subsequent years at the USBC National Women’s Senior Tournament, 2013 in Reno, NV, and Green Bay, WI in 2016. Shelley was inducted into the Greater Harrisburg USBC Hall of Fame in 2009.

Shelley has bowled in 3 PA State USBC Open Championships, 22 PA State USBC Women’s Championship, 16 PA State USBC Mixed Tournaments, and 9 PA State USBC Senior Tournaments. She has also bowled 1 USBC Open Championship, 16 USBC Women’s Championship, 11 USBC Mixed Tournaments, and 9 USBC Senior Tournaments.

It is with great pleasure that we induct Shelley McCabe into the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame.


Joseph Pursel Jr - Bowling Ability - Hellertown, PA

Joseph “Eddie” Pursel Jr. enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in bowling.

Eddie has 1 certified 300 game. He has a high series of 780 and his highest league average is 211.  Eddie has been active in organized bowling for 68 years. 

Through 2021 Eddie has bowled in 62 consecutive USBC Open Championships. In 2018 Eddie became the 22nd bowler to join the 100,000-pin club putting him 16th on the all-time list for pin fall. His lifetime tournament average is 184 for 567 games.

Eddie has bowled 36 PA State USBC Open Championships, and 21 PA State USBC Senior Tournaments. He has 2 Open Team championships, 1 Scratch Doubles title, 1 Handicap Doubles title, and 1 PA State USBC Senior title.

In multiple local associations Eddie has amassed a total of 44 titles. He was the 1964 BPAA All-Star Match Game Champion. In New Jersey, Eddie was part of the 1965 championship team.

Eddie was inducted into the Hall of Fame in the following local associations, Bethlehem Area, Easton Area, and Slate Belt.

It is with great pleasure that we induct Joseph E. “Eddie” Pursel Jr. into the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame.


James Tomek Jr - Bowling Ability - New Cumberland, PA

James Tomek Jr. enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in bowling.

Jim has 167 certified 300 games, and 138 certified 800 series.  His highest league average is 256 and has a high series of 878.  Jim has been active in organized bowling for 41 years. 

Jim was a member of the Scratch Team champions in the 2011 PA State USBC Open and 2012 PA State USBC Scratch and Handicap team.  He has 4 PA State USBC Mixed Tournament titles and was the runner-up in the 2011 PA State USBC Masters Tournament. He has 5 titles in the Greater Harrisburg USBC, had high average 4 times in Greater Harrisburg, and once in York/Adams County USBC. Jim was inducted into the Greater Harrisburg USBC Hall of Fame in 2012.

Jim has bowled in 16 PA State USBC Open Championships, 6 PA State USBC Mixed Tournaments, and 21 USBC Open Championships. He is a two-time PBA Eastern Regional Player of the Year, a PBA Member from 1998-2020 and bowled on the National Tour from 2001-2020 where his best finish was third in 2004. His best finish in a major was seventh in the 2002 USBC Masters. Jim also has 8 PBA Regional titles. He was part of a doubles team that shot 600 and was high score in the nation for the 2010-2011 season.

It is with great pleasure that we induct James Tomek Jr. into the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame.
