2024 HOF Inductees

Jay E Daryman

Jay Daryman enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for his meritorious service to the game of bowling.

Jay has been involved in organized bowling for 44 years.  Locally, Jay has served as the Youth Travel League Secretary and Secretary/Treasurer for two adult leagues. He has served as the York-Adams President from 2009-2013; Director from 2006-2009; YCBA Executive Director-1987, 1997 and 1999-2005.  Jay also served as the Association Tournament Director.

He served as the York Area Young American Bowling Alliance (YABA) Association Tournament Director in 1975-1976 and 1979; Junior Association Secretary 1980 and 1987 and President from 1995-2000.

Jay has held many positions for the Pennsylvania State Youth Association – Director 1986, 1997; District Chairman and Tournament Director 1990 through 1997; Association Manager 1997-2018; Pepsi State Tournament Director 1997-2018; State Youth Tournament Director 1997-2003 and the Transition Committee Chair 2017-2018. 

Since the merger, he has held the following positions from 2018 to present for the Pennsylvania State USBC – Director, Youth Committee Chair, IT Committee Chair, Pepsi State Tournament Director.  Served as Vice-President from 2020-2022 and President from 2022-present.

On a National level, Jay has been a Director from 2015-2024.  Served on the following committees – Associations Relations, Audit Diversity & Inclusion, Legal and Legislative (Chair), National Policy, and Nominating.   He has attended National Conventions from 1987 to present. 

Jay has bowled two 300 games; a high series of 857 and high average of 216.  He has participated in the Pennsylvania USBC Open Tournament as well as the USBC National Open Tournament.

Jay was elected into the York-Adams Hall of Fame in 1999.

It is with great pleasure that we induct Jay Daryman into the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame.


Stephen Haas

Stephen Haas enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in bowling.

Stephen has 30 certified 300 games, and 8 certified 800 series.  His highest league average is 232 and a high series of 855.  Stephen has been active in organized bowling for over 45 years. 

Stephen has bowled in 29 consecutive PA State USBC Open Championships.  He has rolled a 300 game at both the PA State USBC Open Championships and at a Greater Harrisburg USBC Tournament.  Stephen has also competed in over 24 consecutive USBC Open Championships, in 2004 he placed 16th in singles with a high game of 298.  A PBA member since 2004, he has one title the 2008 Bermuda South Open.  He has cashed in several National PBA events including the USBC Masters and US Open. 

His Championship titles include: PA USBC Senior Tournament Scratch Singles; PA USBC Mixed Scratch Team, Greater Harrisburg team and doubles champion, Summer Eliminator Series Champion, Heartland Tour Doubles Champion and Sport Shot Challenge League Team Champion for six consecutive years.

Stephen is a staff member with Motiv and VISE. He is the Owner of a YouTube Channel – Banner Knowledge Bowling with over 1 million views. 

Stephen was inducted into the Greater Harrisburg USBC Hall of Fame in 2021.

Brian Hess

Brian Hess enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements in bowling.

Brian has 19 certified 300 games, and 16 certified 800 series.  His highest league average is 239 and a high series of 851.  Brian has been active in organized bowling for over 51 years. 

Brian has bowled in 34 PA State USBC Open Championships, 9 PA State USBC Senior Tournaments and 1 PA State USBC Mixed Tournament.  Brian’s teams have found success at the PA State USBC Open Championships having won the Scratch and Handicap events over multiple years.  Brian has also been successful at the PA State USBC Senior Tournaments, winning the Scratch 6-game and 9-game All Events in his age category.  Brian has been competing in the USBC Open Championships for 22 years. 

Brian has various Championship titles (over 11) within the Lancaster Bowling Association.  He is a member of the 2004 team that holds the Open Scratch Team Tournament Record in Lancaster.   Brian along with his teammates hold the 2014 PSBA Open Championship Scratch Team Tournament record to this day, with a score of 3811. 

Along with Brian’s success on the lanes, his service to the game is also outstanding.  Brian has been a Director for the Lancaster USBC since 1989, served as their President for 7 years.  At the State level, Brian served as a PSBA Area Director from 2011-2018 and PA State USBC Director from 2018-present.  He has chaired and served on various committees at the state level.

He is a life member of the Lancaster USBC Bowling Association and was inducted into the Lancaster USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2017.

John Mackowski

John Mackowski enters the Pennsylvania State USBC Hall of Fame for his meritorious service to the game of bowling.

John has been involved in organized bowling for 59 years.  John began his service to the sport as the Association Manager of the former Erie District Youth Bowling Association (YABA) and directed four tournaments each year for the youth bowlers of Erie.  In 1988 he was the co-founder of a scholarship fund for the youth bowlers; this scholarship program has paid out over $100,000 in scholarships.  In 1990, he founded the Erie Youth Scholarship Golf Outing to help raise additional funds for scholarships.  This golf outing continues today with approximately 120 golfers attending each year.

A founder of the Ricardo’s Scratch Challenge tournament hosting over 125 bowlers per year at this one-day event.  In 2008 a record 226 bowlers participated.  A portion of the entry fee is donated to the Erie Youth Scholarship Fund.

John has held various league officer positions, one of note is the Secretary/Treasurer for 31 years and counting.  John has been a Director for the Northwestern PA USBC for 41 years, he was their Treasurer for 12 years.  He currently serves as the Association Manager, a position he has held for 10 years.

John has attended the PA State USBC Annual Meeting for 31 years.  He became a PA State USBC Director in 2019 and currently serves as the Second Vice President.  John currently Chairs the PA State USBC Tournament Committee and is a member of the Human Resource, Masters/Queens and Youth Committees.

John has attended 26 USBC National Conventions.  He has been instrumental in hosting four PA State USBC Open Championships in Erie. 

John has been successful on the lanes too, with multiple 300 games, a high series of 847 and a high average of 227.  He has participated in 41 PA State USBC Open Championships, 3 PA State USBC Senior Tournaments and 39 USBC Open Championships.

John is a Hall of Fame member of the Northwestern Pennsylvania State USBC as well as a life member.
