Answer 1:
NEW – Scratch and Handicap Events with one entry fee
When you enter this tournament, you are automatically entered in both the Scratch and Handicap Events. One fee, two Events. This means you only need to bowl three games for a chance to qualify in both Events – saves time, saves money!
Answer 2:
Divisions
Each Event has divisions where a bowler will compete in. There are divisions for boys and girls. Scratch is based on the bowlers age as of Aug 1 and there are six separate divisions. Handicap divisions are based on the bowler’s average and there are three divisions. See the rules for definitions
Answer 3:
How do I register (sign up) for the tournaments?
We use an online registration system provided by USBC and accept paper entries by mail. The online system is preferred because the time you choose to bowl is confirmed once payment is made. There is a video that shows you how to use the online registration system. https://bowlpa.com/YouthScratch/youth_scratch.htm
Answer 4:
The online registration system is closed, can I still bowl?
The tournament does allow walk-in entries. It is best to reach out to your Regional Tournament Director to inquire about availability before you head to the event to be sure there is lane availability for you to bowl.
Answer 5:
Why change the name from Districts to Regionals?
For years we called the state qualifying sites Districts and always assumed that centers were assigned to a specific District. Due to recent requests from parents about travel time to some events, we have decided to make it clear, that you can choose the Regional site of your choice in which to bowl.Answer 6:
Can I bowl more than once, enter multiple times?
NO, multiple entries are not permitted. You may enter only once in the Region of your choice, futhermore, you cannot enter in more than one Region. Bowling in multiple states beyond league level is also not permitted. This rule is set by USBC.
Answer 7:
Can I change the time I selected to bowl?
Yes, if you registered using the online system and it’s still active, you can do this yourself or contact the State Tournament Director. After online registration closes, it’s best to contact your Regional Tournament Director for they have all the information.
Answer 8:
Refunds?
Refunds are only honored if requested in advance of bowling and in writing, stating the reason why. Not showing up at the event will not be refunded. All refunds are processed after all Regional events have concluded (late March).
Answer 9:
What do I do if I qualify for the State Finals.
All bowlers who qualify for the State Finals will receive an invitation letter in the mail with instructions on how to register for the State Finals. There is no fee to bowl in the state finals. Registration opens after the last Regional tournament concludes. State finals information is posted on our web site.Answer 10:
